He who slayed Death …

By :- Aishwarya Raghunath

He fought till the last
Blood drenched limbs spurned
he didn’t let out a cry
His silence shrieked with loudness.
With immaculate ease he lynched his enemies
Swaying the swords with utmost perfection
It seemed as if the swords had replaced his arms
Who coordinated with him involuntarily all along.

Adrenaline flowed through his spine
A vigour of current passed through his veins
With bloodshed eyes
He himself turned into death
The winner of games.
It was impossible to look through the veil of his eyes
Like the rays of sun they shined with lust for blood, its said eyes never lie.

He fought like it was his last
Losing the count of moments and time.
He bathed his mother earth in the colour of blood
He had turned into a predator
A wounded tiger coming out of the den.

He was applauded and praised
Criticized and tamed
There were bodies laying around lifeless
Strewn like water in ocean
Midst stood he like the mountain
The tallest between the island; drenched in red.

He came to be known as the God of war
There seemed to be on his body no bruises no scares
Little did the world know what made him tough
The scars that just weren’t external
But deep inside his soul.

Had it been possible to look within
He was the most tattered soul
Bruised and scared.
Who had kept himself intact
By sewing his broken pieces with the thread of zeal and spirit.

He was detached
A mystery deeper than the depths of sea.
Walking towards the edge of the mountain
Looking at the burning pyre
He spoke to himself silently;

He was no less wounded,
Though it was perfectly camouflaged by him
He was in love with life
Who pushed him to the brink of extremes.
He had heard death embraces even its enemies
He ran towards it to take him in her shield
She was reluctant and turned her face instead.
When nothing was left for him to lose anymore
When life had played its game
And death has turned remorse
He turned myself into the third entity
Saviour in disguise
Confidante of death
To the world he got

As the warrior
Who slayed death…..

To the world he was renowned as Karna
Who having lived his life with valour and grace
Earned the sobriquet of *Mrityunjay..

  1. This was very good Aishwarya, one that brought out the pathos suffered in silence by the great warrior, a friend in deed and an invincible person who defied death and lived by his principles till the very end…
